IEC EN 62642-3 specifies requirements, performance criteria and test procedures for control and indication equipment (CIE) intended for use in intrusion and intrusion alarm systems (I&HAS) installed in buildings. This standard also applies to CIE to be used in IAS or HAS. The CIE may include the rendering functionality of other I&HAS components, or the rendering requirements may be distributed among such components.
This standard specifies the requirements of CIE installed in buildings using specific or non-specific wired interconnects or wireless interconnects. These requirements also apply to auxiliary control equipment (ACE) installed inside or outside the inspected facilities and installed indoors or outdoors.
This standard specifies performance requirements for CIE in each of the four safety classes defined in IEC EN 62642-1. Requirements are specified for all four environmental classes covering applications for indoor and outdoor use.
This standard includes mandatory functions that must be provided in all CIEs for the appropriate degree of security, as well as optional functions that may be provided in addition.
This standard contains a set of requirements for which a formal test procedure can only be written by describing (and thus restricting) the technology for which the requirement is fulfilled. Accordingly, it has been recognized that such functions can only be tested by agreement between the manufacturer and the test house, according to documented information on how the required functionality is achieved.
