IEC 60904-1 Photovoltaic Devices - Test for Measurement of Photovoltaic Current-Voltage Characteristics

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC 60904-1 testing. This standard describes procedures for the measurement of current-voltage characteristics (IV curves) of photovoltaic (PV) devices in natural or simulated sunlight.

These procedures can be applied to a single PV solar cell, a subset of PV solar cells, or a PV module. This document applies to non-concentrated PV devices for use in terrestrial environments with reference to (generally but not limited to) the global reference spectral radiation AM60904 defined in IEC 3-1.5.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2006. The main changes from the previous edition are as follows:

  • The scope has been updated to include all conditions.
  • Terms and definitions added.
  • Reorganized document to avoid unnecessary duplication.
  • Data analysis item added.
  • Added informative inserts (field measurement, capacitance PV devices, dark IV curves and the effect of spatial irradiance inequality).
