IEC 61439-6 Low Voltage Switchgear and Controllers Part 6: Standard Test for Busbar Trunking Systems

This part of IEC 61439 sets out the definitions for the low voltage BTS and specifies the service conditions, construction requirements, specifications and verification requirements as follows:

• BTS where the rated voltage does not exceed 1000 V in case of ac or 1500 V in case of dc;
• The BTS is designed in connection with the generation, transmission, distribution and conversion of electrical energy and for the control of electrical energy consuming equipment;
• BTS designed for use under special service conditions (operated by unskilled persons), for example on ships, rail vehicles and domestic applications, provided that the relevant special requirements are observed;
• BTS is designed for electrical equipment of machines. Additional requirements for the BTS forming part of a machine are covered by the IEC 60204 series.

This standard applies to all BTS, whether they are designed, produced and validated as a one-off, or fully standardized and produced in quantity. Fabrication or assembly may be performed by a different manufacturer than the original manufacturer.

This standard applies to motor starters, fuse switches, electronic equipment, etc., in accordance with the relevant product standard. It does not apply to stand-alone devices and stand-alone components, such as
