IEC EN 62271-37 High Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment - Part 37-013: Alternating Current Generator Circuit Breakers

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 62271-37 test. IEC EN 62271-37, hereinafter referred to as generator circuit breaker, applies to three-phase ac high voltage generator circuit breakers designed for indoor or outdoor installation and operation at frequencies of 50 Hz and in systems with voltages above 1 kV and up to 38 kV Applicable to generator circuit breakers installed between 60 Hz Generator and transformer terminals.

IEC EN 62271-37 High Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment - Part 37-013: Alternating Current Generator Circuit Breakers

Requirements for generator circuit breakers intended for use with generators and transformers rated 10 MVA or higher are specifically covered. Generator circuits and pumped storage installations rated below 10 MVA are considered special applications and their requirements are not fully covered by this standard. This standard also applies to the operating mechanisms of generator circuit breakers and their auxiliary equipment.

Covers general terms covering switching devices and their combinations with associated control, measuring, protective and regulating equipment, as well as assemblies of such devices and equipment with associated interconnections, accessories, enclosures and supporting structures.

The rated system-induced short-circuit breaking current is the highest system-sourced short-circuit current at the contact separation, which the generator circuit breaker must be capable of breaking under the conditions of use and behavior specified in this standard. For three-pole generator circuit breakers, the AC component relates to a three-phase grounded short circuit. The source of the short-circuit current comes from the power system through at least one conversion.

The rated generator-source short-circuit breaking current is the highest generator-source short-circuit current at the contact separation, which the generator circuit breaker must be capable of breaking under the conditions of use and behavior specified in this standard.
