The IEC EN 60335 standard, prepared and published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), complies with the internationally accepted protection level against hazards such as electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire and radiation of devices when operated in normal use, taking into account the manufacturer's instructions. It also covers abnormal situations to be encountered in practice and considers how electromagnetic events can affect the safe operation of devices.
In addition, this standard takes into account the requirements of the IEC 60364 standard (electrical installation standard in buildings) to the extent possible. In this way, when the device is connected to the main network, compliance with the wiring rules is ensured.
If the functions of a device are covered by different standards in the second part of the IEC 60335 standard, it is applied to each function separately as far as reasonable and the effect of one function on the other is taken into account. If the different standards in the second part of this standard do not contain additional requirements to meet the hazards discussed in the first part, the IEC EN 60335-1 standard is applied. The IEC EN 60335 standard is a product family standard related to the safety of electrical appliances used in homes and similar places and takes priority over general standards covering the same subject.
The aforementioned standard has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) in our country with the following title: TS EN 60335 Safety rules - For electrical appliances used in homes and similar places - Part 1: General rules.
