IEC EN 60115-1 Fixed Resistors for Use in Electronic Equipment

The section or blind detail specification should specify the tests to be performed, the measurements to be made before and after each test or subset of tests, and the order in which the tests are to be performed. The stages of each test will be performed in written order. The measurement conditions will be the same for the first and last measurements.

Resistance measurements should be made using a small DC voltage for as short a time as possible so that the temperature of the resistor element does not rise appreciably during measurement.

The test should be performed using one of the following four methods as specified in the relevant detail specification. For resistors without mounting brackets, the V-block method is the preferred method.

Resistors must be measured according to IEC EN 60440 for non-linearity. The voltage to be applied will be the rated voltage or the limiting element voltage, whichever is less severe. Where there are special requirements for non-linearity, such requirements should be specified in the detail specification.
