EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60702-2 testing. This standard specifies termination requirements for use with mineral insulated cables conforming to the requirements of IEC EN 60702-1.
The tests in this standard are type tests aimed at determining termination design features. Unless otherwise stated, all experiments will be carried out at (20 ± 10)°C ambient temperature.
The test voltage will be approximately equal to the peak value of the sinusoidal waveform or DC alternating voltage at a frequency in the range of AC 49 Hz to 61 Hz and will be applied gradually.
The gaskets and glands to be tested shall be fitted in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, at both ends of the (60702 ± 1) mm long cable in accordance with IEC EN 300-50, at a size and nominal voltage suitable for the gaskets/glandings under test. Each seal should be installed as soon as possible after the cable end has been prepared to minimize moisture ingress.
The sample must withstand for 5 minutes the following test voltage applied between each conductor and all other conductors and between all conductors grouped together and the sheath:
Insulation integrity testing is a voltage test performed between each conductor and other conductors and between each conductor and sheath. A voltage equal to the declared voltage of the cable will be applied for 5 minutes. Insulation deterioration should not occur.
