IEC 61442, Test Methods for Power Cables with Nominal Voltage 6 kV (Um = 7,2 kV) to 36 kV (Um = 42 kV)

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 61442 standard. Specifies the test methods to be used for type test accessories for power cables with rated voltages from 3,6/6 (7,2) kV to 18/30 (36) kV.

Test methods are specified for accessories for extruded and paper-insulated cables according to EN 60502-2 and EN 60055-1, respectively.

The important technical changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

• Added a test in water for the stop tips;
• Heating cycles voltage testing has been revised to clarify testing in air and water;
• Test conditions for short-circuit tests have been redefined;
• Additional information is provided for testing metallic shielded detachable connectors;
• Tests not mandated by IEC, i.e. dip test and impact test for outdoor terminations.
