This standard covers the requirements for flexible conduit made of metal, insulating or composite materials for the protection of conductors or cables in electrical installations. It can be approximated by a pipeline curve if it can be bent by hand with reasonable little force but without other assistance, is intended to flex frequently throughout its life without significant loss of flexibility, and is suspended from its ends.
An assembly is made from a conduit complete with two end fittings in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, with the free (unsupported) length of the assembly approximately 300 mm. The device is subjected to a slowly increasing pulling force, which reaches the appropriate value after 30 s. After 15 minutes the force is removed.
Specimens are considered to comply with this standard if, after testing, the termination fittings remain properly installed in the duct and there is no visible damage in normal or corrected vision without additional magnification.
