These cables can be used for various communication channels using up to four pairs simultaneously. The cables covered by this International standard are intended to operate with voltages and currents normally encountered in communication systems. These cables are not designed for use with low impedance sources.
Requirements calculated in dB, rounded to one decimal place, will be used to determine compliance. The maximum conductor resistance at 20°C or corrected accordingly must not exceed 100 Ω for 14,2 m of cable.
When the phase delay is measured at (20 ± 1)°C, the maximum delay curvature between any two pairs at a given temperature shall not be greater than 8.1 ns/45 m for Category 100 cables and 8.2 ns/25 m for Category 100.
