EN 50577 Electrical Cables - Fire Resistance Test for Unshielded Electrical Cables

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 50577 testing. This European standard specifies a test method for assessing the preservation of circuit integrity of electrical cables with intrinsic resistance to fire under fire conditions, in order to classify electrical cable according to EN 13501-3.

EN 50577 Electrical Cables - Fire Resistance Test for Unshielded Electrical Cables

The test determines the survival time of the electrical cable for circuit integrity when exposed to fire under EN 1363-1 standard time/temperature curve conditions. This European Standard is used in conjunction with EN 1363-1. This European Standard applies to electrical power and control cables with a rated voltage up to (inclusive) 600/1000 V. The cable is tested in a representative standardized installation condition. The test does not evaluate the performance of the cable management system.

Compliance of power, control and communication cables with the requirements of this European Standard and the performance (including classes) declared by the manufacturer in the Declaration of Performance (DoP) shall be demonstrated by:

  • Determination of the product type;
  • Factory production control by the manufacturer, including product evaluation.

The manufacturer should always maintain overall control and have the necessary means to take responsibility for the conformity of the product to its declared performance.

All equipment used in the manufacturing process should be inspected and maintained regularly to ensure that use, wear, or malfunction does not cause inconsistency in the manufacturing process. Inspections and maintenance should be performed and recorded in accordance with the manufacturer's written procedures and records kept for the period defined in the manufacturer's FPC procedures.

Individual cable lots shall be identifiable and traceable according to their production origin. The manufacturer should have written procedures that ensure regular audits of the processes involved in adding traceability codes or markings.
