EN 60216-4-2 Electrical Insulating Materials, Thermal Endurance Properties, Part 4-2: Standard Test for Aging Furnaces

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 60216-4-2 standard. It covers minimum performance requirements for ventilated and electrically heated precision furnaces for thermal endurance assessment of electrical insulating materials and other suitable applications.

Covers furnaces designed to operate in all or part of the temperature range from 20 K above room temperature to 300°C.

Two possible methods are described to achieve the required performance:

• Where the required performance is achieved by precise control of temperature in a simple single-chamber furnace, i.e. upgraded versions of furnaces to HD 611.4.1 and, otherwise;
• The required performance is achieved by using a second chamber (iso-box) installed in the chamber of a single-chamber furnace.

The furnace must be solidly constructed using suitable materials designed for continuous operation over the entire permissible temperature range. All electrical and auxiliary adaptations must be easily accessible for maintenance purposes.
