IEC EN 60051-4 Analogue Electrical Measuring Devices with Direct-Act Display and Their Accessories Title - Part 4: Special Requirements for Frequency Meters

IEC EN 60051-4 applies to analog frequency meters with direct-acting display of the following types: IEC EN 60051-4 also applies to non-replaceable accessories used with frequency meters.

• Pointer type frequency meters;
• Vibrating frequency meters.

The reference value for a frequency meter corresponds to:

• The upper limit of the measuring range;
• For vibratory reed frequency meters with several rows of reeds, each row is considered a separate range, and each row has its own reference value, which is the upper limit of the measuring range of that row.

Frequency meters, with non-replaceable accessories, if any, must be subjected to a continuous voltage overload of 120% of the rated voltage or 120% of the upper limit, excluding instruments equipped with a non-locking switch.

After cooling to reference temperature, the frequency meter, with any non-replaceable accessories, must comply with accuracy requirements; however, the overload will not be repeated.

Frequency meters with non-replaceable accessories, if any, will be subjected to short-term overvoltage loads. Voltage ratings for short-term overloads should be the product of the rated voltage or the upper limit of the rated range for voltage, unless other values ​​are specified by the manufacturer.

After being subjected to short-term overloads and cooling to the reference temperature, the frequency meter and its non-replaceable accessories, if any, must meet the accuracy requirements; however, overloads should not be repeated.
