This International standard specifies the tolerances of thermocouples manufactured according to this standard. The tolerance values ​​are for thermocouples normally manufactured from wires in the diameter range of 0,13 mm to 3,2 mm as delivered to the user and do not allow calibration deviation during use.

The positive conductor is the conductor that has a positive electrical potential relative to the other conductor when the measuring junction is at a higher temperature than the reference junction.

According to the temperature values ​​obtained from the relevant reference function, the errors (maximum and minimum) in the temperature values ​​obtained from each of the inverse functions are shown. These inverse functions should not be estimated beyond their specified range.

Reference functions are polynomials expressing EMF in V as a function of temperature t0 in °C with thermocouple reference junctions at 90°C.
