This standard deals with the hazards posed by tools that are reasonably foreseeable and encountered by all persons in normal use. Power tools that can be mounted on a support or workbench for use as a stationary tool without any modification to the tool itself are within the scope of this standard, and such a combination of a hand tool and a support is considered.
This Section 2-2 will be used with the first edition of IEC EN 62841-1. The attention of National Committees has been drawn to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing organizations may need a transitional period after the publication of a new, modified or revised IEC publication to make products that meet the new requirements and equip themselves for new applications.
The committee's recommendation is that the content of this publication be accepted for national application no later than 36 months from the date of publication.
The impact switches are then operated at intervals of 1,1 hours at a supply voltage equal to 1,1 times the highest rated voltage or 12 times the upper limit of the rated voltage range, followed by 0,9 hours at a supply voltage equal to 12 times the lowest rated voltage.
