IEEE Std. IEEE Standard Requirements for C57 Power Transformers

Developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Std. The C57 standard is a wide range of standards consisting of many sub-standards.

IEEE Std. IEEE Standard Requirements for C57 Power Transformers

Some of the most commonly referenced standards among these standards are:

  • IEEE C57.12.00 General requirements for liquid immersed distribution, power and regulating transformers. This standard specifies the electrical and mechanical properties of single-phase and multi-phase liquid-immersed distribution and power transformers and autotransformers and regulating transformers with a voltage of 601 Volts or higher on the highest voltage winding.
  • IEEE C57.12.01 Dry type distribution and power transformers. This standard defines the electrical and mechanical properties of single and multi-phase ventilated, non-ventilated and sealed dry-type distribution and power transformers or auto-transformers with a voltage of 601 Volts or higher on the highest voltage winding.
  • IEEE C57.12.10 Liquid-immersed power transformers. This standard describes the requirements for power transformer application. This standard is intended to be used as a basis for the performance, interchangeability and safety of the equipment covered and to assist in the correct selection of this equipment.
  • IEEE C57.12.20 500 kVA and smaller overhead distribution transformers. The scope of this standard is for single and three phase, 60 Hz, liquid immersed, self-cooled, overhead distribution transformers 500 kVA and smaller, high voltage 34500 V and below and low specific electrical, dimensional and mechanical properties and safety specifications 7970/13 800Y Voltages V and below are not included.
  • IEEE C57.12.60 Thermal evaluation of insulation systems for dry-type power and distribution transformers. This standard describes a test procedure for the thermal evaluation of insulation systems of dry-type power and distribution transformers. This test procedure is used to determine the temperature classification and modification of insulation systems.
  • IEEE C57.12.90 Liquid-immersed distribution, power and regulating transformers. This standard describes the methods for performing the tests specified in the IEEE C57.12.00 standard and other standards applicable to liquid immersed distribution, power and regulating transformers.
  • IEEE C57.18.10 Semiconductor power rectifier transformers. This standard describes the applications and requirements for semiconductor power rectifier transformers for special loads rated at 100 kW and higher for single-phase and for three phases of 100 kW and higher.
