It does not apply to high-voltage battery packs (for traction, for example) and the systems or components inside them. It describes potential environmental stresses and specifies recommended tests and requirements for different stress levels on the vehicle.
The specified vibration test methods take into account the various vibration severity levels applicable to onboard electrical and electronic equipment. The customer and supplier must select the test method, ambient temperature, and vibration parameters based on the particular mounting location.

However, it is important to recognize that the inherent limitations of laboratory testing necessitate the use of appropriate care and engineering judgment when estimating these laboratory results against the results achievable under actual service conditions.
In many cases, real-world environmental stresses (alone or in combination) cannot be replicated practically or reliably in test labs. Therefore, users of this document should not assume that a system or component that passes the laboratory tests of this standard will also pass field/fleet validation trials.
