ANSI C136-31 Road and Area Lighting Equipment - Test for Luminaire Vibration

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ANSI C136-31 testing. ANSI C136.31 Luminaire vibration is the standard covering the ability to withstand minimum vibration and vibration test methods for road luminaires and field luminaires.

ANSI C136-31 Road and Area Lighting Equipment - Test for Luminaire Vibration

The ANSI C136.31 test defines a fixture as a lamp or a complete lighting unit consisting of lamps or solid-state light source, with parts designed to diffuse light, position and protect lamps.

The specific ANSI C136.31 road light test plan depends on the luminaire's application. If the luminaire is to be placed on a bridge or overpass, the luminaire system will be tested at 3,0 G. All other applications of armature systems will be tested at 1,5 G. The armature will vibrate at or near the fundamental resonant frequency.

Frequency and displacement should be monitored during vibration testing. A large change in frequency or displacement is an indication of structural failure. ANSI-C136.31 tests require the fixture to be able to withstand the vibration described for 100.000 cycles in each plane.
