IEC EN 60603-7-5 references 8-way, shielded, free and fixed connectors and dimensional, mechanical, electrical and environmental properties and tests in IEC 60603-7 and IEC 60603-7-1 and specifies electrical transmission requirements.
These connectors are typically used as category 11801 connectors in class E cabling systems specified in ISO/IEC 6. These connectors are interlockable and interoperable with other IEC EN 60603-7 series connectors defined in Clause 2 of IEC EN 60603-7. These connectors are backward compatible with other IEC EN 60603-7 series connectors.
IEC EN 60603-7 is the key feature of the entire series. Subsequent specifications do not repeat the information given in the base document, but only list additional requirements. For full identification of a component of a higher-numbered document, all lower-numbered documents will also be considered.
The wiring of these connectors must take into account the wire and cable diameter of the cables defined in the IEC EN 61156 series in accordance with the manufacturer's specification.
In addition to the test programs of IEC EN 60603-7 and IEC EN 60603-7-1, an additional set of two sets of connectors is required for the EP group. Free connectors for the EP group must also meet the requirements of IEC EN 60512-27-100.
