IEC EN 62037-4 Passive RF and Microwave Devices - Test for Coaxial Cables

All coaxial cables are subjected to static and clamp-on cable loop dynamic testing. Cables classified as flexible or semi-flexible are also subjected to a flexural tool dynamic test.

Intermodulation in long cables is measured using reverse setup due to the significant attenuation of these cables. If the cable to be measured is long enough, ie one-way input loss of 10 dB or more, only the end to be tested needs to be connected. Use connectors known to have poor IM performance relative to DUT. Soldered connections are preferred. Similarly, if a termination is required, it will have known poor IM performance relative to DUT.

Apart from being done at multiple bend radius, it should also be done on another sample. Before performing the test, the cable must be subjected to multiple bends.

Move the flexing tool along the length of the cable so that the cable flexes along the entire test length as it passes through the wheels of the tool. Care should be taken not to transmit mechanical strains to the test set or the final load (if used).
