EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN IEC 60079-15 standard. This part of EN IEC 60079 applies to electrical equipment where the rated input voltage does not exceed 15 kV rms AC or DC, e.g. starters for HID luminaires, including where the internal operating voltages of the Ex product exceed 15 kV.
It supplements and replaces the general requirements of IEC 60079-0. When a requirement of this part of IEC 60079 conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, the requirement of this part of IEC 60079 takes precedence.
The equipment group in the component temperature classification shall comply with the equipment group in the temperature classification clauses of IEC 600 79 -0.
According to EN IEC 60079-0, documentation must include a data sheet or statement from the sealing device manufacturer to demonstrate that the materials used for the seals have a sufficient thermal stability for the service temperature range to which they will be subjected.
Materials used for gaskets shall have a continuous operating temperature range that includes a minimum temperature below or equal to the minimum service temperature and a maximum temperature at least 10 K above the maximum service temperature. This data sheet or statement may be on the sealing or encapsulating material, or it may be on the sealed device itself in general.
