EN ISO 80079-37 Standard Test Method for Explosive Atmospheres, Non-Electrical Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 80079-37 testing. This standard specifies requirements for the design and construction of non-electrical equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres, protected by structural safety "c", ignition source control "b" and liquid immersion "k" protection types.

EN ISO 80079-37 Standard Test Method for Explosive Atmospheres, Non-Electrical Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres

This part of EN ISO 80079 supplements and replaces the requirements in EN ISO 80079-36. When a requirement of this standard conflicts with the requirement of ISO 80079-36, the requirement of this standard takes precedence.

Protection Types “c”, “k” and “b” do not apply to Group I, EPL Ma without additional protective measures.

The types of ignition protection described in the standard can be used alone or in combination with each other to meet the equipment requirements of Groups I, Group II and Group III, depending on the ignition hazard assessment in EN ISO 80079-36.

Ignition protection in which structural measures are applied to protect against possible ignition from hot surfaces, sparks and adiabatic compression created by moving parts.

Sparks produced by impact or friction between two solid materials, as well as particles that burn by mechanical impact or friction, as well as showers of particles.

Ignition protection in which mechanical or electrical devices are used in conjunction with non-electrical equipment to manually or automatically reduce the possibility of a potential source of ignition becoming an effective source of ignition.

This could be, for example, a level sensor used to indicate oil loss, a temperature sensor to indicate a hot bed, or a speed sensor to indicate overspeed.

The type of protection in which potential sources of ignition are neutralized or separated from the explosive atmosphere by being completely immersed in a protective liquid from the explosive atmosphere or by partial immersion of its active surfaces and permanently coated with a protective liquid, cannot be ignited above the liquid or outside the equipment enclosure.
