IEC 60773 applies to test methods for measuring the operating properties of brushes designed to operate in commutation and slip ring machines under specified test conditions. Additionally, some tests may be relevant for other sliding electrical contacts for electrical devices.
It is possible that a single test rig may not meet all required application parameters; therefore, it follows that more than one type of test equipment will be required. These test rigs should be constructed in such a way that the required brush operating parameters can be obtained easily and accurately according to the quantities to be measured.
It should be appreciated that due to the many variables involved and the fact that this equipment is "commutation-free", the absolute values obtained from such test machines will differ from those obtained from "real" machines.
