The IEC/EN 60335-2-51 standard prepared by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is designed for use in heating systems or service water systems and has a nominal power input not exceeding 300 W, with a constant voltage of not more than 250 volts for a single phase. It concerns the safety of electrical stationary circulation pumps. The hydraulic and electrical parts of the pump may be in the same housing. This way water flows through the engine and acts as a coolant.
Such heating pumps are also considered within the scope of this standard, as they are considered dangerous to humans, such as some devices that are not designed for use in and around the home but are nevertheless intended for use by laypeople in shops, light industry and farms.
The IEC / EN 60335-2-51 standard, as far as applicable, carries the common risks of electrical devices that everyone encounters in and around the homes and deals with the common dangers presented by such devices.
The following devices are not covered by this standard: pumps for circulating fluids other than water, pumps other than circulation pumps, devices designed for industrial purposes only, and devices intended for use in corrosive or explosive atmospheres such as dust, vapor or gas.
The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 60335-2-51 Safety rules - For electrical devices used in homes and similar places - Part 2-51: Special rules for fixed circulation pumps in heating and potable water installations .
