All material in any consignment should be as consistent as possible and have properties within the limits of this standard over the entire length of each roll. The lacquered fabric should be flexible, the surface should be uniform, reasonably smooth, and reasonably free from defects such as bubbles, air holes, wrinkles and imperfections.
Except for panel-shaped cross-cut material, none of the rolls of any material should be shorter than 10 m, allowed to contain more than two separate piece lengths. If the electrical or mechanical properties of the material or both cannot be provided at the junction between the two parts, the joint will be marked.
The material should be placed in packaging that provides adequate protection during transport, handling and storage. The type, width and thickness of the material, the length of the roll or the number of sheets in a stack, and the date of manufacture will be clearly marked on the outside of each package.
In addition to definitions and terminology, the standard outlines general requirements for varnished fabrics, including details on their thermal properties such as thermal strength and thermal conductivity, as well as their physical and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation. It also provides guidance on test methods to be used to evaluate the performance of varnished fabrics.
