IEC EN 62282-2-100 Fuel Cell Technologies - Testing for Fuel Cell Modules

IEC EN 62282-2-100 provides safety-related requirements for the construction, operation and testing of fuel cell modules under normal and abnormal conditions.

This standard addresses conditions that may pose a hazard to persons and cause damage to the exterior of fuel cell modules. Protection against damage inside fuel cell modules is not addressed in this document, provided it does not cause hazards outside the module. These requirements may be overridden by other standards for equipment containing fuel cell modules as required for certain applications.

Applies to fuel cell modules with the following electrolyte chemistry:

• Alkali;
• Polymer electrolyte (including direct methanol fuel cells);
• Phosphoric acid;
• molten carbonate;
• solid oxide;
• Aqueous salt solution.

It is not the purpose of this standard to limit or hinder technological progress. A device that uses materials or forms of construction other than those specified in the requirements of this standard can be examined and tested for the purpose of these requirements and may be considered conforming to this standard if found to be substantially equivalent.

Fuel cell modules are components of final products. These products require evaluation against appropriate end-product safety requirements.
