IEC EN 62756-1 Digital Load Side Transmission Lighting Control (DLT) - Part 1: Basic Requirements

This standard for Digital Load Side Transmission Lighting Control (DLT) defines a protocol for simple control of brightness, color, color temperature and other parameters for controlling CFLi, LED light engines, electronic control gear and any other lighting source.

This protocol uses existing wiring and allows standard switches, dimmers and lamps to be easily retrofitted with new devices described in this standard with little or no configuration.

The standardization of the control protocol for the control of electronic lighting equipment with digital signals on the load side aims to provide multi-vendor interoperability between controllers and control gear, including but not limited to:

• CFL integrated lamps;
• LED integrated lamps;
• External light sources control gear.

The wiring of the devices complies with the installation rules given in the IEC EN 60364 series, as well as the national wiring rules valid in the country where the devices are installed.
