CISPR 14-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Equipment - Part 1: Emission

This part of CISPR 14 specifies requirements that apply to the emission of radio frequency disturbances in the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz from AC or DC (including a battery) powered appliances, power tools and similar devices described below.

CISPR 14-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Equipment - Part 1: Emission

This part of CISPR 14 applies to the following equipment:

  • Household appliances or similar equipment
  • It can cover the residence and related buildings, garden, etc. For typical cleaning functions in the home environment, including
  • For typical cleaning functions in shops, offices, commercial and other similar work environments
  • By customers in hotels and other residential environments
  • on farms
  • For induction cooking or air conditioning in residential or commercial environments
  • electrical appliances

Examples of power tools include electric motor powered or electromagnetically operated hand held tools, portable tools, lawn and garden machines.

  • External power controllers using semiconductor devices
  • Motor-powered electro-medical equipment
  • electric/electronic toys
  • Personal care and beauty care tools
  • Automatic goods distribution machines
  • amusement machines
  • Cinema or slide projectors
  • Battery chargers and external power supplies for use with products covered in this document
  • electric fence energizers

The scope of this standard also includes individual parts of the equipment specified above, such as motors and switching devices (eg power or protective relays). However, no emissions requirements apply to such individual parts, unless otherwise stated in this document.

Products that include radio transmit/receive functions are within the scope of this document. Out of the scope of this document:

  • Equipment where all emission requirements in the radio frequency range are clearly formulated in other CISPR standards
  • Luminaires including portable luminaires, discharge lamps and other luminaires for children within the scope of CISPR 15
  • Information technology equipment covered by CISPR 32, e.g. home computers, personal computers, electronic copiers
  • Audio/visual equipment and electronic musical instruments other than toys within the scope of CISPR 32
Baby surveillance systems as well as the main communication devices
  • Equipment covered by CISPR 11 but aware of 6.5 in multifunctional equipment
Radio controls, walkie-talkies and other types of radio transmitters
  • arc welding equipment
  • Equipment intended for use in a vehicle, ship or aircraft only
  • Equipment used only in an industrial environment
  • Effects of electromagnetic phenomena on the safety of equipment

Multifunctional equipment may be required to comply with the clauses in this and other standards. The emission requirements in this document are not intended to apply to intentional transmissions from a radio transmitter as defined by the ITU, including its spurious emissions.

CISPR 14-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Devices, within the framework of national and international standards, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies. - Part 1: Provides emission testing services.
