Electromagnetic and Electrical Tests

CISPR 14-2 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Equipment - Part 2: Immunity - Product Family Standard

This part of CISPR 14 specifies electromagnetic immunity requirements in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz that apply to AC or DC (including a battery) powered appliances, power tools, and similar devices.

CISPR 14-2 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Equipment - Part 2: Immunity - Product Family Standard

This document specifies immunity requirements for both conducted and radiated permanent and transient electromagnetic disturbances. Unless otherwise stated, this document applies to all equipment covered by CISPR 14-1, namely:

  • Household appliances or similar equipment
  • It can cover the residence and related buildings, garden, etc. For typical cleaning functions in the home environment, including
  • For typical cleaning functions in shops, offices, commercial and other similar work environments
  • By customers in hotels and other residential environments
  • on farms
  • For induction cooking or air conditioning in residential or commercial environments
  • electrical appliances

Examples of power tools include electric motor powered or electromagnetically operated hand held tools, portable tools, lawn and garden machines.

  • External power controllers using semiconductor devices
  • Motor-powered electro-medical equipment
  • electric/electronic toys
  • Personal care and beauty care tools
  • Automatic goods distribution machines
  • amusement machines
  • Cinema or slide projectors
  • Battery chargers and external power supplies for use with products covered in this document
  • electric fence energizers

This document also covers microwave ovens for home use or cooking. Products that include radio transmit/receive functions are within the scope of this document. It is included in the scope of this document. In cases where equipment covered by this document is combined with transmit and/or receive radio functions, the appendices should be checked.

Out of the scope of this document:

Equipment for which all electromagnetic immunity requirements are clearly formulated in other CISPR or IEC standards. Examples are:

  • Lighting fixtures including portable luminaires, discharge lamps, LED lamps and other lighting devices for children within the scope of IEC 61547
  • Multimedia equipment covered by CISPR 35
  • Baby surveillance systems as well as the main communication devices
  • arc welding equipment
  • Equipment intended to be part of the fixed electrical installation of buildings (e.g. fuses, circuit breakers, cables and switches)
  • Medical electrical equipment, including those covered by CISPR 14-1
  • Equipment used only in an industrial environment
  • Equipment intended exclusively for use where special electromagnetic conditions exist (for example, high electromagnetic fields near broadcast transmitting stations or high energy pulses near power generating stations)
  • Equipment intended for use in a vehicle, ship, boat or aircraft only
  • Effects of electromagnetic phenomena on the safety of the apparatus

AC single-phase equipment with a rated voltage higher than 250 V between phase and neutral and AC multi-phase equipment with a rated voltage higher than 480 V are also outside the scope of this document. Abnormal operation of equipment, such as simulated faults in the electrical circuit, is not taken into account for testing purposes.

CISPR 14-2 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Requirements for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Devices, within the framework of national and international standards, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies. - Part 2: Immunity - Provides Product Family Standard testing services.
