This European standard applies to equipment and systems for power-driven parking of motor vehicles with four wheels up to 5,30 m long, 2,30 m wide, 2,20 m high and up to 5,30 m long and 2,20 m high. . The equipment can be controlled manually or automatically.

This standard does not cover:

  • vehicle lifts;
  • Peripheral devices that do not control motor vehicles, eg parking meters, ticket machines;
  • Building-related requirements, even if they directly support stored vehicles;
  • Only freight elevators according to EN 81-31;
  • Power-operated parking equipment designed to lift or transport any person;
  • Transmission and interface of remote controls;
  • Automatic parking equipment with moving transfer areas;
  • Use of electric parking equipment by wheelchair users and deaf persons;
  • workplace of any official.

This standard does not cover:

  • Hazards that arise when loads or other objects fall from vehicles;
  • Hazards arising in case of fuel or oil leakage from vehicles;
  • Hazards from operating the equipment/system in electromagnetic fields outside the range of EN 61000-6-2;
  • Hazards from operating the equipment/system in areas subject to special regulations (eg explosive atmospheres, fire risks);
  • Hazards from the use of hazardous/toxic substances, eg special hydraulic oil;
  • Dangers from noise.

In the case of automatic parking equipment, there will be an exit route from the transfer area in case of an emergency, also in the event of a main power failure. If an emergency door or passdoor is not provided, a suitable "door open" controller or a manual means to open the main door will be provided in the transfer area to enable the main gate to be opened. If the emergency door is opened or the “door open” controller is operated, the control signal allowing movement in the transfer area will be removed.
