EN 50065-2-3 - Signaling in Low Voltage Electrical Installations in the Frequency Range of 3 kHz to 148,5 kHz - Part 2-3: Immunity Requirements and Distributors

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 50065-2-3 standard. This standard applies to electrical equipment that uses signals in the frequency range of 3 kHz to 95 kHz to transmit or receive information about low voltage electrical systems for electricity suppliers and distributors.

EN 50065-2-3 - Signaling in Low Voltage Electrical Installations in the Frequency Range of 3 kHz to 148,5 kHz - Part 2-3: Immunity Requirements and Distributors

In the case of equipment containing functions other than transmitting or receiving information about low voltage electrical sources, this standard applies only to the part of the equipment intended for such transmission or reception of information.

Other parts of the equipment shall comply with the immunity standard or standards related to the functions of these other parts. Where tests of different severity are specified in these other standards, and where the nature of the equipment is such that the functions cannot be tested separately, higher importance will apply to all the functions affected.

The purpose of this standard is to limit the mutual influence between network communication equipment and systems (MCES) operating in different frequency bands as defined in EN 50065-1 and contribute to the achievement of electromagnetic compatibility in general.

Specifies basic immunity requirements and test methods for electromagnetic interference in general and more specific interference from other MCES, including tests to be performed during type testing of MCES in low voltage installations.

Therefore, it defines immunity testing requirements for apparatus with respect to both conducted and radiated permanent and transient disturbances and electrostatic discharges. Test requirements are determined for each port evaluated.

This standard gives limits applicable to products operating in the public supply network, operated by electricity companies. However, the levels do not cover extreme situations that can occur anywhere but have a low probability of occurring.

In special cases, situations will arise where the level of disturbance may exceed the levels specified in this standard, for example when a hand-held transmitter is used near an apparatus. In these cases, special mitigation measures may be required.

It does not specify immunity between network communication systems operating in the same band (as defined in EN 50065-1) or immunity to signals originating from power line carrier systems operating in high or medium voltage networks. Safety aspects are not included in this standard.
