The purpose of this standard is to establish a common and repeatable reference for assessing the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment when subjected to electrical rapid transients/bursts at the supply, signal, control and ground connection points. The test method documented in this standard defines a consistent method for assessing the immunity of an equipment or system to a defined phenomenon.
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2004 and its 1 (2010) amendment. It constitutes a technical revision that improves and clarifies simulator features, test criteria, and test setups.
