EN 62561-6 Lightning Protection System Components, Part 6: Standard Test for Lightning Strike Counters

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 62561-6 standard. EN 62561-6 specifies requirements and tests for devices intended to count the number of lightning strikes based on the current flowing in a conductor.

EN 62561-6 Lightning Protection System Components, Part 6: Standard Test for Lightning Strike Counters

This conductor may be part of a lightning protection system (LPS) or may be connected to an SPD installation or other conductor that is not intended to transmit a significant portion of lightning currents. LSCs may also be suitable for use in hazardous environments and therefore there are extra requirements required for components to be installed in such conditions.

This edition includes the following important technical changes from the previous edition:

  • Removing the previous classification and introducing a simple division into Type I (direct lightning current detection) for impulses and Type II for lightning surge current detection, with appropriate tests for each type;
  • Changing and adding terms and definitions.
