This standard specifies immunity requirements for both conducted and radiated permanent and transient electromagnetic disturbances.
The purpose of this standard is to establish uniform requirements for electromagnetic immunity of equipment specified in the scope, determine immunity test specifications, refer to basic standards for test methods, and standardize operating conditions, performance criteria and their interpretation.

The scope of this standard also includes microwave ovens for domestic use or cooking. Equipment that includes radio transmit receive functions is within the scope of this document.
