ETSI EN 300 339 General Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Standard for Radio Communications Equipment

The ETSI EN 300 339 standard covers the evaluation of radio communications and ancillary equipment in terms of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). This document is applicable to all categories of radio communications equipment, with the exception of broadcast receivers. It does not apply to inductive communication equipment.

ETSI EN 300 339 General Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Standard for Radio Communications Equipment

Where a relevant harmonized special product EMC EN or product family Harmonized EMC EN exists, such an EN takes precedence over the existing document.

This standard specifies the applicable EMC tests, measurement methods, limits and minimum performance criteria for radio equipment and any associated ancillary equipment operating in the frequency range 9 kHz to 3 GHz.

This standard contains all EMC requirements for emission above 40 GHz from the antenna port or enclosure port.

For equipment operating at frequencies above 20 GHz, specific measurement methods may be found in other standards regarding effective use of the radio spectrum.

EMC requirements have been chosen to provide adequate compatibility for devices in residential, commercial, light industrial and vehicle environments. However, the levels do not cover extreme situations that could occur anywhere but are unlikely to occur.

The current standard may not cover situations where a potential source of interference is persistently present producing a continuous phenomenon or recurring transients, such as a radar or broadcast field in the immediate vicinity. In such a case, it may be necessary to use special protection applied to the source of interference or the part being interfered with, or both.

Certain products, such as high power radio transmitters that cannot be tested in a normal test laboratory environment, may be tested on site or at the manufacturer's premises. The general basis of test methods and limits used to evaluate these products should conform to the existing document where appropriate.

Compliance of radio equipment with the requirements of the present document does not imply compliance with any requirements related to the use of the equipment, for example licensing requirements.

Compliance with the requirements of this document does not imply compliance with any security requirements. However, it is the responsibility of the person evaluating the equipment to record any observations that the test sample has become dangerous or unsafe as a result of performing the tests specified in this document.
