ETSI EN 301 489-3 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standard for Radio Equipment and Services - Part 3: Short Range Devices Operating at Frequencies Between 9 kHz and 246 GHz

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ETSI EN 301 489-3 testing. The current standard covers the evaluation of Short Range Devices (SRD) operating in the 9 kHz to 246 GHz frequency range for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). The current standard specifies test conditions, performance evaluation and performance criteria applicable to Short Range Devices (SRD) and associated ancillary equipment.

The Short Range Devices product family covers a wide variety of equipment types that may have a different set of performance criteria specified in the relevant radio standards or product standards. The current standard is designed for all types of SRD and applies a standard set of performance criteria. This includes the requirement that equipment continue to operate as intended under certain standardized conditions of EMC stress.

The term Short Range Device (SRD) is intended to cover radio equipment that provides one-way or two-way communication and is less capable of causing interference with other radio equipment. SRDs use integrated, dedicated or external antennas and all modulation modes are allowable subject to relevant standards. Separate licenses for short range devices are not normally required.

The coupling mechanism for the desired RF signals between the EUT and the measurement or test equipment may include attenuation to control the level of the signals. The coupling mechanism will be completely passive so that the mutual path loss is the same.
