IEC 55014-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Test for Household Appliances, Electrical Appliances and Similar Devices

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 55014-1 standard. This standard specifies requirements applicable to the emission of radio frequency disturbances in the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz from AC or DC (including battery) powered devices, electrical appliances and similar devices.

Also within the scope of this standard are individual parts of the equipment specified above, such as motors and switching devices (eg power or protective relays); however, no emission requirements apply to such individual parts, unless otherwise specified in this standard.

Evaluation of clicks should be done at four frequencies, and determination of click rate N should be done at only two frequencies. While the application of the upper quartile method is obvious at the 150 kHz and 500 kHz frequencies, the situation is unclear for the 1,4 MHz and 30 MHz frequencies. At 1,4 MHz the number of clicks and at 30 MHz the number of clicks exceeding the limit (L) for continuous disturbances during the observation period, T, is not measured, but is assumed to be equal to the number of clicks currently counted. 500 kHz during the observation period T. Clicks at 1,4 MHz and clicks exceeding Lq at 30 MHz are allowed to be one quarter of the number of clicks counted at 500 kHz.
In any case where it is necessary to confirm the original measurement, the evaluation method originally chosen will be used to ensure consistency of results.

The radiated emission requirements in this standard are not intended to apply to intentional transmissions from an ITU-defined radio transmitter, or to any fraudulent emissions associated with such intentional transmissions.

Radio disturbance limits are given in the frequency range 9 kHz to 150 MHz with an extension up to 1 kHz for certain types of equipment. The equipment is considered to comply with the requirements without testing if it is clear from the construction of the equipment that a particular measurement is not required, for example, because there is no source of deterioration in the equipment.
