IEC 55024 Information Technology Equipment - Test for Immune Properties

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 55024 standard. This standard defines immunity testing requirements for information technology equipment with respect to continuous and transient conducted and radiated disturbances.

IEC 55024 Information Technology Equipment - Test for Immune Properties

IEC 55024 specifies requirements to provide adequate levels of intrinsic immunity for equipment to function as intended in its environment. Test requirements are determined and applied at berthing. Ports are defined and explained in the standard. The ports include the general enclosure, DC Power, AC Power, Ground, Signal and finally Telecommunications ports.

Information Technology Equipment (ITE) to be tested for IEC 55024 may include:

  • Central processing units (mains) and processor storage, console devices, channel devices, etc. all related features and peripherals, including;• Mini computers, mid-range computers, microcomputers and personal computers and all associated peripherals;
  • Special-purpose systems including word processing, Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), photo editing, typesetting and electronic bookkeeping;
  • Communication devices used to transmit data: modems, data sets, multiplexers, concentrators, routers, switches, local area networks, private branch exchanges, network control equipment, or digital components of microwave or satellite communication systems;
  • Input-output (peripheral) units (offline or online): terminals, card readers, optical character readers, magnetic tape units, mass storage devices, card punches, printers, computer output to microform converters (COM), video display units, data input devices , teletypes, teleprinters, plotters, scanners, or any device used as a terminal to a computer and control units for these devices.

Europe has a number of standards with the prefix EN European Norm. These have been written by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The vast majority of ENs related to the EMC Directive are produced by CENELEC.
