IEC EN 55103-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Audio-Visual and Entertainment Lighting Controllers - Test for Emissions

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 55103-1 test. EMC emission requirements apply to professional audio, video, audiovisual and entertainment lighting controllers. Distortions in the 0 Hz to 400 GHz frequency range are covered, but the requirements for this entire range are not specified.

IEC EN 55103-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Audio-Visual and Entertainment Lighting Controllers - Test for Emissions

This European Standard does not apply to:

  • consumer apparatus;
  • Apparatuses specially designed for security systems;
  • Devices designed to radiate electromagnetic energy for the purpose of radio communication.

The purpose of this standard is to define limits and measurement methods for devices defined in scope for permanent and transient, conducted and radiated disturbances. These requirements represent basic electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

The apparatus shall be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Measurements should be made in the operating mode that produces the largest emission of the type measured, consistent with normal operation. Try to maximize the emission by changing the configuration of the test sample.

During the measurement, the configuration and operating mode must be fully specified in the test report. If the apparatus is part of a system or can be connected to an auxiliary apparatus, the apparatus should be tested while connected to the minimum configuration of auxiliary apparatus typical for normal use. If an apparatus has more than one input or output of a particular type, the number of inputs and outputs connected to the auxiliary apparatus during measurements should be the minimum that will allow the apparatus to perform its intended function.

Measurements should be made under well-defined and reproducible conditions for each type of disturbance. Measurements should be made one by one in sequence, with the order optional. Unless otherwise specified in this Standard or the relevant Basic Standard, each measurement or the relevant series of measurements of a phenomenon must be made under a single set of environmental conditions, within the specified operating ambient range of the device and at the rated supply voltage.

If the apparatus includes subassemblies equipped with connectors so that they can be moved within, an attempt should be made to maximize emissions by moving subassemblies using only specified or non-prohibited configurations.
