IEC 61180-2 High Voltage Test Techniques for Low Voltage Equipment, Part 2: Test Equipment

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of IEC 61180-2 standard. This part of IEC 1180 is applicable to test equipment used for dielectric tests in low voltage equipment.

It covers tests with direct, alternating or impulse voltage, impulse current and a combination of impulse voltage and impulse current. The necessary verification procedures are specified to ensure that the dielectric tests conform to the voltage or current requirements specified in part 1 of this standard in shape and size.

The test equipment consists of a voltage or current generator and a measuring system. This standard covers test equipment in which the measuring system is protected against external interference and the connection by suitable shielding, for example a continuous conductive shield. Therefore, simple comparison tests are sufficient to provide valid results.

Test equipment with measuring systems consisting of unshielded components or connected by long cables is not covered by this standard. In this case, guidance can be taken from IEC 60-2 keeping in mind the less stringent requirements of this standard.
