IEC 61543 Residual Current Operated Protective Devices (RCD) for Household and Similar Use, Standard Test for Electromagnetic Compatibility

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of IEC 61543 standard. It ensures electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of devices providing residual current protection for rated voltages not exceeding 440 V ac and is mainly intended for the protection of persons against shock hazards.

IEC 61543 Residual Current Operated Protective Devices (RCD) for Household and Similar Use, Standard Test for Electromagnetic Compatibility

This International standard contains the required definitions for devices providing residual current protection, standard electromagnetic conditions, operating conditions in service, and electromagnetic tests.

As required by, and in connection with, a product standard currently applies to:

  • IEC 1008 series for RCCBs;
  • IEC 1009 series for RCBOs.

For the same purpose, in conjunction with future IEC standards, portable residual current devices (PRCDs) without integrated surge protection for household and similar use are also intended to be included or associated for residual current devices without built-in overcurrent protection.
