Road traffic signal systems working together with other systems such as public lighting, railway systems should also comply with the relevant standard and should not reduce the safety of all equipment. In general, EMC testing of equipment requires that it be operated under conditions similar to those found in practice. Equipment may be tested individually or in a representative system as described below.
Modes of operation likely to cause the highest emission levels and additionally those likely to result in the most susceptible situation will be selected. Equipment under test will be tested to maximize emission and sensitivity levels at the highest operational frequencies.
Equipment with dim and bent operating conditions will be tested in this state, which produces the higher emission level. For controller or system tests, the controller must be set for two-group operation. One set of signals should be connected to the maximum load and the other to the minimum load. These loads should be standard signal heads with associated control gears or an electrical equivalent load.
Measurements should be made in the operating mode that produces the largest emission in the frequency band studied, consistent with normal practice. An attempt will be made to maximize emissions by changing the configuration of the test sample.
