EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60118-16 test. This part of IEC EN 60118 gives definitions of common hearing aid features such as noise reduction or feedback reduction. Only acoustic inputs are considered. Binaural features are not currently covered in this document. In addition, measurement procedures are described to verify hearing aid characteristics.

The purpose is not to evaluate the performance of features, but to verify their existence and functionality. Also, definitions and procedures have been kept as general as possible so that this standard can be applied to various types of hearing aids, such as airway hearing aids or bone conduction hearing aids. For this purpose, the general definition for hearing aid of IEC EN 60118-0 has been adopted and this standard does not refer to any particular ear simulator or acoustic coupler, it uses a general definition of the coupler. However, only the airway hearing aid condition is considered if a general view cannot be applied or if it leads to unclear or complex expressions.

The definitions and procedures in this standard have been kept as general as possible so that this document can be applied to a variety of hearing aids, such as airway hearing aids or bone conduction hearing aids. However, in some sub-items and definitions, a general view cannot be applied or leads to an unclear or complex expression, so only air conduction hearing aids are considered.

To validate user-selected HAPs, each of the programs must be defined with a different signal processing strategy or parameter set. If any two HAPs are defined by the same strategy or parameters, they will be considered the same program. In the case of configurable HAPs, it should be ensured that different programs provide different output characteristics.
