IEC EN 60255-22-3 Measuring Relays and Protection Equipment - Radiated Electromagnetic Field Immunity Test

With its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, EUROLAB provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60255-22-3 testing. This standard specifies general requirements for radiated electromagnetic field immunity tests for measuring relays and protective equipment for power system protection, including control, monitoring and process interface equipment used with these systems. The purpose of the tests is to verify that the equipment under test will operate correctly when energized and exposed to an electromagnetic field.

Tests should be performed with the antenna facing both sides of the EUT. When technically justified, the EUT can be tested with fewer sides exposed to the generating antenna. The polarization of the field produced by the antenna requires testing both sides twice, once with the antenna in the vertical position and once with the antenna in the horizontal position.

The time delay settings of the EUT will be set to their minimum practical value as defined in the intended application. Experiments should be made with auxiliary energizing quantities applied to suitable circuits using input energizing amounts equal to their rated values. The values of the entered energizing quantities will be within twice the assigned error of the transition state.

During each spot frequency test, the input energies will be adjusted to cause the EUT to switch from a normally energized state to a running state and will be held until the EUT is operating correctly. Input energy amounts must then be readjusted to cause the EUT to reset.

The test methods described in this standard are structured for the primary purpose of ensuring adequate reproducibility of results at various test facilities for the qualitative analysis of effects. Test methods using a portable transmitter are not considered here because the EMC directive now specifies a screening test, calibrated field strengths must be used and the portable transmitter test is not generally reproducible.

The requirements specified in this standard apply to measurement relays and protection equipment in an unused condition and all tests specified are type tests only.
