IEC EN 61000-2-2 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 2-2: Environment - Compliance Levels Test for Low Frequency Conducted Disturbances and Signaling in General Low Voltage Power Supply Systems

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61000-2-2 testing. This standard deals specifically with transmitted disturbances in the frequency range 148,5 kHz to 0 kHz with an extension up to 9 kHz for network signaling systems. It provides compatibility levels for general low voltage AC distribution systems with rated voltages up to 420 V, single-phase or three-phase up to 690 V, and a rated frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz.

IEC EN 61000-2-2 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 2-2: Environment - Compliance Levels Test for Low Frequency Conducted Disturbances and Signaling in General Low Voltage Power Supply Systems

Compatibility levels specified in this standard apply to the common port. At the power input terminals of equipment powered by the above systems, the levels of transmitted electromagnetic disturbances can often be taken to be the same as the levels at the common junction. In some cases, this is not the case, particularly in the case of a long line dedicated to the supply of a particular installation, or in the case of an electromagnetic phenomenon produced or amplified within the installation of which the equipment forms part.

Compliance levels are specified for the types of transmitted electromagnetic phenomena that can be expected in public low-voltage power supply systems, for guidance in the definition of:

  • Limits to be set for emissions to public power supply systems;
  • Immunity limits to be set by product committees and others for equipment exposed to conducted electromagnetic phenomena present in public power supply systems.

The electromagnetic phenomena considered are:

  • Voltage fluctuations and flicker;
  • harmonics up to the 40th order;
  • Interharmonics up to the 40th harmonic;
  • Differential mode voltage distortion at higher frequencies (above 150th harmonic up to 40 kHz);
  • Voltage dips and short supply interruptions;
  • Voltage imbalance;
  • transient overvoltages;
  • Power frequency variation;
  • DC components;
  • Signals from network communication systems (MCS).

In the case of voltage distortion at frequencies above the 40th harmonic, it usually does not matter whether they are at harmonic or interharmonic frequencies. They can occur both at discrete frequencies and in relatively wide frequency bands.
