EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 50270 standard. The EN 50270 standard specifies requirements for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electrical apparatus for the detection and measurement of flammable gases, toxic gases or oxygen, subject to performance standards for gas detection apparatus.
For the purposes of this standard, the word toxic includes the words very toxic, toxic, harmful, corrosive, irritating, sensitizing, carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic. This standard is a product standard based on the EN 61326-1 product family standard. This product standard takes precedence over the product family standard and general standards.
This European Standard applies to apparatus intended for use in residential, commercial and light industrial environments as well as apparatus intended for use in industrial environments. The device can operate on AC-, DC- or battery.
This European Standard is also applicable to devices intended for use in hazardous areas that may contain explosive or potentially explosive atmospheres. It covers normal operation only and does not cover safety requirements related to EMC events.
This standard applies to electrical equipment for the detection and measurement of flammable gases, toxic gases or oxygen, which include functions specified by the manufacturer as safety functions and which may include functions specified as non-safety functions.
All performance standards for the detection and measurement of flammable gases, toxic gases or oxygen contain the minimum functional safety requirements specified in EN 50271. There are also gas detectors and gas detection systems intended for use with safety integrity levels from SIL 1. SIL 50402 according to EN 61508 and EN 3 This standard for functional safety in industrial applications has taken into account these aspects of EN 61326-3-2 regarding the measuring and warning function of the apparatus, defined as the safety function.
This standard specifies requirements for immunity tests as well as emission tests for permanent and transient, conducted and radiated disturbances, including electrostatic discharges. Test requirements are specified for each port considered. Apparatus covered by this European Standard are classified according to the following types as follows:
Tip 1: Apparatus intended for use in residential, commercial and light industrial environments as described in EN 61000-6-1 and EN 61000-6-3.
Tip 2: Apparatus intended for use in industrial environments as described in EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4.
A type 1 apparatus for which the manufacturer has requested a safety integrity level should be considered a type 2 apparatus with respect to immunity requirements. This European Standard does not apply to any of the following:
