IEC EN 61000-6-5 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 6-5: General Standards - Immunity Testing for Power Station and Substation Environments

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61000-6-5 testing. This technical specification specifies immunity requirements for devices intended for use by electrical installations in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and related telecommunications systems.

IEC EN 61000-6-5 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 6-5: General Standards - Immunity Testing for Power Station and Substation Environments

Covered places are power stations and substations where power plant devices are installed. Immunity requirements are given for the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz, but only in relation to electromagnetic phenomena for which detailed test procedures, test instrumentation and test setup are given in current IEC basic standards.

Immunity requirements are suitable for meeting the special needs related to the functions and duties of equipment and systems where it is necessary to operate reliably under real electromagnetic conditions; In this context, this technical specification sets performance criteria for different functional requirements.

Different requirements are given for equipment to be installed in power stations and substations. In special cases, situations will arise where the level of electromagnetic disturbance may exceed the levels specified in this technical specification; in these cases, special mitigation measures should be taken.

Non-electronic high voltage and power equipment (primary system) is outside the scope of this technical specification.

This technical specification does not specify safety requirements for equipment such as shock protection, insulation coordination and related dielectric tests. However, these tests are considered a prerequisite for immunity tests.

Emission requirements are not covered by this technical specification and are covered by relevant product or product family standards (eg IEC 60439-1, IEC 60870-2-1, etc.). In the absence of a specific product or product family standard, the general standard IEC 61000-6-4 applies.

Apparatuses of electrical installations are installed and implemented in power plants and substations according to the rules given by the manufacturers. It is important that these devices operate to their stated performance when subjected to the various transmitted and radiated electromagnetic phenomena typically specific to these installations.
