The 2/4M system is defined by dividing a binary data string into two-bit data segments and transforming them into four-cell codes using the data of the four bits before and the next four bits of the two-bit data segment. The system uses the collected data to convert two-bit data segments to four-cell codes, ensuring that there are at least two and up to seven code cells "1" between any code cell "0" in the converted code string.
The synchronization pattern in the register code consists of 2 cells where the magnetization inversion range is limited within the 4/32 M scheme rule and the lower cross-correlation function pattern is selected to keep the overwrite properties intact. The synchronization pattern is represented in the NRZI to reduce the possibility of false SYNC detection near the SYNC signal.
A specified Baseline is assumed to align the four auxiliary channels with the digital electroacoustic channels. Auxiliary signals from block synchronization that connect directly to the first word of a block with a 30,5 block delay for speed I and 61 blocks for speed II must contain this word. The line is assumed to be a transverse line at this delay location.
