Measurements on these primary reference tapes should be certified by the issuing national standards body and verified by a second IEC member national standards body that is able and prepared to do so.
The overwrite feature is defined as the difference between the average signal level of a recording in test intensity A using the test recording current and the average signal level remaining after overwriting the same portion of the tape in test intensity B. The tape winding shall be in accordance with the respective lead manufacturer's recommendation and shall be adjusted for maximum short wavelength response.
