EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61162-401 testing. Explains the application profile of the communication protocol, which is the basis of the communication system. It is based on the realization of layers 410 to 1 (T-profile) as described in Chapter 4.

This part of the standard is written to make it independent of the T-profile. The principle is that different T-profiles can be used, depending on the field of application and the respective requirements. Standard principles for the definition and construction of a T-profile are contained in IEC EN 61162-410. This clause provides an overview of the assumptions on which this chapter is based and some permissible deviations.

A data type is defined as a data container that can contain information with a certain precision. Any implementation of this protocol will ensure that the representation of these data types of the host or T profile has at least the precision defined in the following clauses.

A special case of an array is the null-terminated string. This is a string of characters terminated by a null character. The maximum length of the string is always defined. This type is only used in the A profile definition and is not accessible to the application programmer.

An alternative way to limit potential congestion is to limit the number of clients or pending transactions on the interfaces. Interfaces can be marked with a maximum number of clients and pending transactions. These are attribute codes defined by the interface. MAU can limit the number of connections or transaction requests by setting these attributes. The mechanism does not work for urgent requests. Limits apply to all MCPs in an interface.
